Spica Class

The Spica Class freighter is the oldest cargo ship still produced. 2160 saw the Mk I a small, underpowered clattertrap. Manufacturing expertise has since improved - the 100th Anniversary edition (Mk IV) shows substantial improvement.

Miscellaneous Facts
Unfortunately for the overall steadfast Mk IV, its predecessor still haunts the design with major weaknesses. While it carries the latest technology in power systems, metal alloys, and expansion capabilities, it employs outdated engines. These are so bulky that a large amount of the ship's systems protrude from its top. This leaves it very vulnerable to an attack on that side. Many individuals replace the engines with a variety of improved models, but Spica Transportation, Inc. is reluctant to incorporate any of these choices into stock production models. The Spica Class is quickly losing popularity for this reason.
